Kansas auctions show interest in central Kansas land

Kansas sales reports were thin as spring turned to summer. A highlighted auction saw about 277 acres of crop and grassland in Reno County selling in two tracts at auction May 20. Tract 1, 120 acres of cropland located along blacktop close to Sterling, Kan., with mineral rights, sold for $2,750 per acre. Tract 2, 157 acres of cropland near Nickerson, Kan., sold for $3,200 per acre. The seller was Bellator Group LLC. The sale was handled by BigIron Realty.

Thomas County. About 770 acres of cropland and grass sold at auction April 30. The land, 14 miles south of Levant, Kan., sold in four adjoining tracts, all open and ready for spring planting or grazing. Tract 1, 250 acres of cropland, sold for $1,550 per acre. Tract 2, 148 acres of cropland and 82 acres of grass, sold for $1,050 per acre. Tract 3, 150 acres of grass, sold for $1,100 per acre. And Tract 4, 140 acres of cropland, sold for $1,600 per acre. The Larry Curtis Revocable Trust was the seller. The sale was handled by Farm & Ranch Realty Inc. of Colby, Kan.

Cheyenne County. About 1,200 acres of Cheyenne County cropland and Conservation Reserve Program land sold at auction May 2. The land, north of Bird City, Kan., sold in two adjoining tracts. Tract 1, 172 acres of cropland with 213 acres of CRP land in contract through 2033, sold for $1,500 per acre. Tract 2, 746 acres of excellent grass and 52 acres of CRP land under one fence, sold for $1,200 per acre. The sellers were Roland and Linda Query, and Larry and Carol Schultz. The sale was handled by Farm & Ranch Realty.

Cheyenne and Sherman counties. About 470 acres of cropland and CRP land sold at auction May 9. The land, near Bird City and Goodland, Kan., sold in three tracts. Tract 1, 160 acres of cropland, sold for $2,800 per acre. Tract 2, 150 acres of cropland and 28 acres of CRP land, sold for $1,850 per acre. Tract 3, 160 acres of cropland, sold for $2,450 per acre. The Brubaker Trust was the seller. The sale was handled by Farm & Ranch Realty.

Thomas County. About 480 acres of irrigated and dryland sold at auction May 20. The land, north of Brewster, Kan., sold in two tracts. Tract 1, 160 acres of dryland along blacktop, sold for $2,000 per acre. Tract 2, 320 acres of irrigated ground with two pivots and one well in the GMD4 LEMA, sold for $5,100 per acre. SAS LLC was the seller. The sale was handled by Farm & Ranch Realty.

Ness County. About 156 acres of crop and grassland sold at auction May 20. The land included just-broken-out CRP land and fenced grass with a windmill for cattle. It sold for $1,200 per acre. Lucas and Kendell Dewitt were the sellers. The sale was handled by BigIron Realty.

Yuma County, Colo. About 280 acres of Yuma County, Colo., cropland and CRP land sold at auction May 13. The land, southwest of Wray, Colo., sold in two adjoining tracts. Tract 1, 125 acres of CRP land, sold for $1,125 per acre. Tract 2, 155 acres of cropland planted to cane, sold for $1,200 per acre. John and Christina Schiltz were the sellers. The sale was handled by Farm & Ranch Realty.
