USDA’s latest grain export report, out Friday morning and covering the week through June 12, didn’t hold a lot of surprises for traders to digest. Corn volume led the way once again after improving 14% from the prior week’s tally. Soybean sales also improved noticeably from the prior four-week average, while wheat sales came in largely as expected.
Corn exports found 41.7 million bushels in combined old and new crop sales last week. Old crop sales were 14% higher week-over-week while easing 6% below the prior four-week average. Total sales were a bit toward the higher end of analyst estimates, which ranged between 23.6 million and 55.1 million bushels. Cumulative sales for the 2024/25 marketing year remain well above last year’s pace after reaching 2.098 billion bushels.
Corn export shipments inched 3% higher week-over-week after reaching 68.7 million bushels. Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Vietnam and Egypt were the top five destinations.
Sorghum exports were 64% better than the prior four-week average, with 2.0 million bushels. That grain is bound for Mexico. Cumulative sales for the 2024/25 marketing year are still trending at less than a third of last year’s pace, with 56.8 million bushels.
Soybean exports found 22.6 million bushels in combined old and new crop sales last week. Old crop sales climbed considerably above the prior four-week average, while total sales topped analyst expectations, with trade guesses ranging between zero and 22.0 million bushels. Cumulative sales for the 2024/25 marketing year are still tracking moderately above last year’s pace after reaching 1.668 billion bushels.
Soybean export shipments shifted 10% lower week-over-week, with 14.9 million bushels. Germany, Mexico, the Netherlands, Japan and Egypt were the top five destinations.
Wheat export sales reached 15.7 million bushels last week. That was a bit toward the lower end of analyst estimates, which ranged between 11.0 million and 22.0 million bushels. Cumulative sales for the 2025/26 marketing year have started out slightly below last year’s pace after reaching 17.6 million bushels.
Wheat export shipments reached 13.5 million bushels last week. Nigeria, the Philippines, Thailand, Mauritius and Venezuela were the top five destinations.
