Red iron owners can now automate their application to increase efficiency. Case IH’s new SenseApply system uses a single cab-mounted camera to spot-spray green-on-brown, boost application when passing areas with higher weed pressure and vary application rates in real time based on field conditions.
Leo Bose, application equipment customer segmentation lead at Case IH, says the new system integrates easily into existing telematics to streamline growers’ application processes.
“With multipurpose functionality, operators can use this technology throughout the seasons,” he says. “It is a cost-effective solution with no annual subscriptions or per acre fees, driving efficiency and profitability.”
Several spray modes provide the system’s versatility:
- Selective Spray targets individual weeds.
- Base + Boost applies a consistent base rate across the entire boom, boosting individual nozzles when the camera detects weeds.
- Live Variable Rate Application can be used for burndown, nitrogen application, harvest aids, plant growth regulation and fungicide application, among others.
The cab-mounted camera watches for weeds ahead of the vehicle up to 150 feet away, and can sense biomass, self-calibrate to adjust nozzles according at speeds up to 25 mph. SenseApply integrates with Case IH FieldOps and Raven Slingshot, letting operators connect and manage application data through their preferred platform. This integration increases overall operator efficiencies by providing real-time data analysis and decision-making capabilities, while making it easier to align with agronomist recommendations.
