Farmall’s new M Series utility tractor is a blast from the past wrapped in modern iron. The last time it rolled out of factories was in 1954.
“This is a nod to the past,” says Leo Bose, livestock application and harvesting lead in North America at Case IH. Behind him, a vintage Farmall Super M sits beside the new machine at Case IH’s booth at the 2025 Farm Progress Show.
“The Super M was brought into existence because we were looking for more horsepower — 44 hp,” he says, gesturing to the old tractor. “They did that with aluminum pistons.”
Available in two models —a 110-hp and 120-hp Super M — the new M Series represents the premium tier of Farmall’s utility tractor lineup. It has superior hydraulic flow when compared to the A and C Series utility tractors, which both received updates this year, and a rear-hitch capacity that’s rated at 11,000 pounds compared to the A Series’ 8,000 pounds.
Its four-cylinder diesel engine powers larger axles, which are designed to carry more load.
“If I had looked at a Midwest producer who is looking for a 120-hp tractor to do wing mowing off the rear, and a loader to handle seed boxes coming from the seed distributor, or to run an auger, this Farmall M series is what they should look at,” Bose says.
Inside the cab, an intentionally designed front window provides a lot of visibility, and a heritage IH logo is stitched into the seat. The new machines feature Case IH’s latest tech, including:
- integrated joystick control with the seat
- digital display
- telematics
- redesigned hydraulic control layout
- ActiveClutch II, which lets operators stop or slow down without using a clutch
“With this 16-by-16 semi-power shift tractor, you don’t have to do ‘the dance’ between clutch and brake anymore,” Bose says. “Just push the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, creating consistency across operators and making loader work significantly more efficient.”
