Export Report: Corn sales bounce back with big results

The latest export sales report from USDA, out Thursday morning and covering the week through February 26, held another mixed bag of data for traders to digest. After a disappointing round of results in the prior week, corn sales bounced back with another strong showing. That wasn’t the case for soybean and wheat volume, which landed on the low end of analyst estimates.

Corn exports bested the prior four-week average after reaching 79.7 million bushels. That was also well above the range of trade estimates, which came in between 23.6 million and 63.0 million bushels. Cumulative sales for the 2025-26 marketing year are 31% above last year’s pace so far after reaching 1.576 billion bushels.

Corn export shipments were also solid, with 66.8 million bushels and shifting 9% above the prior four-week average. Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Spain and Algeria were the top five destinations.

Sorghum export sales fell 91% below the prior four-week average, with around 630,000 bushels. Increases to China and Mexico were slightly offset by reductions for unknown destinations. Cumulative sales for the 2025-26 marketing year are still nearly doubling last year’s pace after reaching 85.8 million bushels.

Soybean exports were down 6% from the prior week and 20% below the prior four-week average, with 14.1 million bushels. That was also on the very low end of analyst estimates, which ranged between 11.0 million and 36.7 million bushels. Cumulative sales for the 2025-26 marketing year are still trending 18% below last year’s pace after reaching 961.0 million bushels.

Soybean export shipments also reached 14.1 million bushels last week, which was 3% better than the prior four-week average. China, Mexico, the Netherlands, Egypt and Indonesia were the top five destinations.

Wheat exports slumped 42% below the prior four-week average after reaching 7.5 million bushels. That was on the very low end of analyst estimates, which ranged between 7.4 million and 18.4 million bushels. Cumulative sales for the 2025-26 marketing year are still trending 14% above last year’s pace after reaching 672.8 million bushels.

Wheat export shipments faded 24% below the prior four-week average, with 12.8 million bushels. The Philippines, Mexico, South Korea, Japan and Indonesia were the top five destinations.
